Public and Private Law:

Rights and duties created by the law are exercised and enforced by or against an individual. The relation is created between the sovereign and the subordinate; in the latter the parties are on the same plane and the sovereign is the judge.Thirdly, in the public law the soveriegn is both party and judge; in the latter he is above the parties and an impartial arbitrator. In this light, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, International Law and some others come under public law, leaving the rest to private law.
